We're Hiring!

We are looking for someone to join our little team!

The position is for approximately 12 hours per week, and applicants must be available to work on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 5pm.

This is a sales role, so fashion sales experience is preferred, but not essential. What is essential is a fun and friendly attitude, reliability and willingness to work hard with the rest of us.

Whilst it is primarily a sales position, if you have any other skills that would be of assistance to us, like graphic design, advertising design or product photography for example, we'd love to hear about it.

If you think that you're the person we're looking for, please email your resume to info@ruckrover.com.au or post or drop it into us at 242 William St, Northbridge WA 6003.

Vote for us in Windows of the City 2014!

If you've been passed our store in the last week, you would have noticed our rainbow slinky window display - it's pretty great! Even if we do say so ourselves.

Designed by Ruck Rover's very own Claire Trolio, there are stacks of coils hanging from the ceiling at different lengths, with a shopping bag bursting with joy. Don't forget the featured outfit in our springtime rainbow palette, too!

Anyhoo, we would absolutely LOVE it if you voted for us in the Windows of the City competition. By voting (for anyone, not just us!) you also go in the draw to win one of four, $5000 City of Perth shopping sprees. What a great prize!!

Head here to enter.

Here are some snaps of the window. The full shot is by Manny Tamayo, the detail shots are our own.

Pucker Up! Kissyface comes to Ruck Rover for Perth Fashion Festival

We'd love to introduce you to a new friend of ours. She's pretty, white and red, and covered in lobsters! Designed by Kissyface, the brainchild of Perth designer Rikki B, this dress is part of our delightfully fun feature for Makeshift.

Photography: Slade Jasper (sladejasper.com)
Makeup Artist: Jacqui Bradfield (aprilrosemakeup.com)
Styling: Hannah McGrath (hannahmcgrath.com.au)

Kissyface makes all her dresses by hand from incredible fabrics; we adore this lobster print! A classic fit n flare style, there's something a little rockabilly and edgy about it that we adore. Kissyface are all about vintage inspired glamour, updated with a modern edge. This frock rocks that idea. And it goes great with the Pirdy Crypton Ring and Louche Marina Scarf (pictured on model!)

Other fabrics include classic polka dots, whimsical bluebirds, summery deck chairs and... cat faces, oh yes!

For one week in September, 12 shops will feature the new collection from one of 12 designers, plus each store will be dressing up their windows with a fresh and fun display featuring their designer's wares. The event kicks off with late night trading from 6-9pm on Wednesday 17 September in all participating stores, complete with drinks and snacks sponsored by European Foods. We will be stocking the Kissyface range until 22 September. Don't miss it!

Introducing Odd Pears

Odd Pears are an Australian business who produce super great, spotty socks.

These 'pears' are sold in a set of three - you receive two matching socks and one in inverse colours so that you can choose to wear a matching pair or your odd pair depending on your mood. We love it!

The colour combinations are really great. Hot pink and green makes me think of watermelons. The pale pink and light brown inspires cravings for old fashioned sweet shops with musk sticks and homemade caramel. Maroon and yellow together definitely invokes a big plate of stewed rhubarb and custard in my mind's eye. Mmm, yum.

They retail at $15 a 'pear' and are available in two sizes - 36-40 and 41-46. But they are socks, they are stretchy and comfy and just kind of fit anyway.

Not only do Odd Pears make wonderful foot friends that will brighten your day, but we have opted into their One Pear One Dollar program. One dollar from every 'pear' sold will be donated to Australian organisation 1$Day, whose aim is to reduce the global inequities in children's health and education.

So get shopping, keep your feet happy, and help make the world a better place.
