December 2008

We are super pleased to announce the opening of the online version of Ruck Rover General Store! We've been working for a few months now to make this happen and bring our interstate and international fans (and busy locals) an opportunity to buy our goodies from the comfort of their own home, from anywhere in the world.

We've collated all the best bits of our store for your perusal in cyberspace, from all the new men's tees, to lots of our jewellery, bags, stationery and women's clothing too! We hope you have as much fun shopping at Ruck Rover online as you do in our brick and mortar store. We will be adding new items all the time as we get deliveries. Oooh we are really excited! You can find the shop here.

October 2008

Hello again!

Well October has been a busy month of arrivals so far, which means the freshest of fresh goodies for your perusal are now in store.

Yesterday afternoon saw the arrival of the long-awaited new range from Gentle Fawn. It is a well-loved label here at Ruck Rover and the new items will not disappoint. As usual we only have limited stock, so get in quick to snap up something new.

If you've ever admired the wooden tree on our jewellery cabinet you'll recognise the owl in Princess Tina's new range of wooden brooches! There's also a fox, ladybird cameo and a beautifully detailed penny farthing to choose from. But we're betting those owls are going to sell like the hottest of hot hotcakes.

Princess Tina has been a favourite label of ours since before we even opened the shop. We are sad to hear that this season will be the last from Beci Orpin under this name before she moves onto new ventures. So once the new season stock arrives it will be the last time you'll be able to get your mitts on super cool Princess Tina clothing, accessories and jewellery.

There's also new jewellery A Skulk of Foxes, new Limedrop wooden jewellery, 31 Corn Lane has a new range of bags and Mingus have re-stocked us with purses too! Phew!

We also have several new labels to tell you about...

Maru makes incredible graphic jewellery and we have stocked up big time on their wooden pins. We're especially fond of the Australian animals, it's great to see a cocky and a roo in amongst the usual swallows, rabbits and cats. Maru also have a clothing line and we have their beautiful pleated pocket dresses in right now, as well as some stripey tees in grey, black and red that would look fab under a pinafore style dress.

Last of all, we're pleased to welcome Meringue to the fold! We've stocked up on some gorgeous pleated wristlet bags all in different fabrics both vintage and modern. These are great thing to have for all those summer parties and events, they'll fit all your essentials in!

In the next few weeks we're expecting so much more new stock from old favourites like Heavy Rotation and Poketo as well as a brand, spanking new (for us) menswear label called Brown Sound from the US. We will be seriously overflowing with the best button-up shirts in Perth, don't you worry!

August 2008

Well it's been a while since we updated you with Ruck Rover news. We've been hard at work finding new and interesting labels for you from all over the world and rearranging the store to fit the new things in!

First of all...

SALE!!!! We have decided to mark down a heap of items. A host of women's tees have been marked down to $30 each or 2 for $40. We have also been really ruthless with a heap of boys' shirts, hoodies and tees. Most sale items are between $20 and $40 so come down and grab a bargain while you can! To top it off we have a $10 bowl full of fun
bits and pieces. Yowza!

We just had a new delivery of Heavy Rotation men's and women's tees arrive just this morning. We know how popular these tees are with so many of our customers for their great fit and comfy feel. The new prints are great and won't hang around long!

We're super pleased to be able to stock jewellery from Kim Williamson of Dotty Speck in Seattle. We have a selection of her handmade silver necklaces. They're beautiful pieces and include rain cloud, wishbone, bird and leaf motifs.

Also freshly stocked are men's tee shirts from Isotope. To quote from their bio,
"Isotope is a quirky and creative t shirt collective that designs and prints garments in a renovated 1920s Bank building in North Central Illinois. We're drawn to many aesthetics, but have been on a 20th Century science kick as of late. Anything transit related we find beautiful - especially maps. We've been screen printing for years and enjoy coming up with esoteric shirts that are visually interesting." They've received a great response so far!

We have also had a fresh delivery from Queen Bee and are stocked up on the 7" record bags in various colours, as well as the ever popular wonder wallets. We have also found out that this style of wallet is discontinued! So if you are a fan looking for a new image, or if you have been thinking about getting one, this is the time for you to come
and pick one up.

The latest addition to the Ruck Rover family is US label Pinecone & Chickadee. Their tees, baby clothes and stationery fit into the shop so perfectly!

Emma at Moe Moe has come up with a brand new range of necklaces and earrings. There is one with a paper plane, another with a stag, a cute birdhouse and bird features on another, and heaps more.

Something super exciting is the addition of Lazy Oaf to the store. This label comes from their shop of the same name in Kingly Court, Carnaby Street, which we think is definitely the coolest store in London. Men's tees feature hot dogs, monsters and multilingual greetings and the girls' prints are of doughnuts, boom boxes, Parisian and sailor themes and swallows. They also do an awesome enamel camera necklace, monster brooch and badge sets. Oh my goodness, so fun!!!

Another favourite thing of ours is a series of fabric bags from Peace & Quiet printed with a woodgrain print! They come in two colours - pine and teak (cute!) - and various sizes. They also do woodgrain tees for both men and women.

Time for us to go and finish tagging the sale items. We hope to see you soon! xx

March 2008

Wow, for the last month we have been getting new stock drops left, right and centre!

We're very pleased to have new Princess Tina tees and jewellery in store and the rest of the range is due in soon!

Small Rhino in Tasmania delivered some awesome new jewellery to us this month. Their range includes some beautiful deco bird brooches and silver, wood and acrylic necklaces.

On the bag front we have the new designs from 31 Corn Lane. We love this label - they are sisters too! The current theme is hot air ballooning and there are three new bags and a cute necklace.

We are once again stocked up on MM/MG stationery and this time we got 5 styles of their coffee mugs too! They are so fun.

The new Limedrop range arrived yesterday, including the men's straight leg jeans. These look awesome with the cuff folded up and one of their bear face tees. Or team them with a checkered shirt from Revival, or one of Melbourne artist Dylan Martorell's new tee prints which are out under his label Outskirts. For the girls we have a great blue on blue heart print that reads run away, in Limedrop's classic U neck style.

Yesterday's post also brought our first ever order from Secret Squirrel! This small Sydney label has some serious fans in Perth. We have some tops, tees and skirts for the ladies and tees and hoodies for the gents, with simple but different prints.

Since its arrival earlier this month, Gentle Fawn items have been selling like hotcakes! We only ordered one of each size but we fell in love with so many different designs, that the racks are still bursting with the awesome styles. There are a stack of dresses, simple printed singlets and tees, cardigans, knit tops and a heap of different shirts and tanks in classic fits using awesome fabrics. Make sure you pop in before they all go. This is the first time Gentle Fawn have distributed to Australia since 2006 (we opened with the last range that saw Australian shores) and we are the only Perth store carrying this line. You won't be disappointed!

Now that the nights are cooling down a bit, it is perfect timing for the addition of Melbourne womenswear label Sunday Morning. We are carrying four of their tops with 3/4 length sleeves. Our favourite is the navy one with blue and white striped sleeves.

Also just in is the new delivery of wallets and tees from Poketo in LA. This range features artwork from Lisa Congdon, Camilla Engman and DGPH amongst others!

Hope to see you soon!

February 2008

The last few weeks have seen a heap of new stock arrive. First came some new tee designs from Nooworks. Claire spoke with designer Jen today who is finishing up her next catalogue and it sounds excellent! So this current range won't be around for long, get in quick before they all go!

We also received three massive boxes from Dangerfield, Revival and their new sister label Black Friday. Our favourite items are super cute cotton skirts with pockets and some flocked blouses. RRGS hearts flocking!

For the crafty types, we have just got in a range of fabric buttons from local label Luii. Designer Janice uses the cutest fabrics (the same stuff she makes her adorable bags out of) including cherries, sausage dogs, mushrooms, sailing ships and hedgehogs. As well as using them on clothes, you could sew them onto plain bags or hats. We have also got some more Luii tote bags and clutches. There are a few new styles including the Lydia clutch - a very nicely sized purse perfect for a day out with friends or a night on the town. They are roomy enough to fit all the important stuff, but not too big to get in the way. Something we always find ourselves remarking on is the quality of Janice's stuff, each item is completely flawless! It's a joy to be able to sell her items.

Ah, here is the Fed Ex man! He has just dropped off two huge boxes of the new Heavy Rotation tees. We can't wait to open them - we recall ordering some super prints. And they have a new style of top for the girls too! It's gathered around the neck and has a cap sleeve. Okay, we are going to go unpack those boxes now! xx
